meet the founder |
Hi there! My name is Reyna Winter and I am the founder of the AYCE Project. From my experiences in high school, I can see clearly that many of the young people around me are passionate about many different topics, varying from national politics to social justice. The one thing I unfortunately don't see is many people actually taking action on these issues. Although young people under the age of 18 make up 21% of San Diego's population, their voices are often not heard when dealing with important policy decisions, even ones that affect young people directly. That's why I wanted to found the AYCE project. Through our workshops and outreach, I hope that my team and I can amplify the voices of San Diego's youth.
When I'm not working with the AYCE project, you can usually find me at the beach or at my local bookstore. I'm also heavily involved in my high school's Model UN program, where I serve as the Secretary-General of my school's conference. Girl Scouts has always been a large part of my life, my experience there has has lead me to be passionate about amplifying young voices and using educated dialogue to make the world a more unified place.
